What's the deal with MFC?
Why doesn't Disney want to release it? Do they have full rights to release it altough there's Fraggles and Sesame Street characters?
Does Disney even own that Muppet production or does Sony still own it becuase they realsed it on 2001?

Well, lets be honest, with the Jim Henson company cutting Kermit out completely from Christmas Toy and Emmette Otter's Jugband Christmas, and almost doing the same to Rowlf in Dog City, if Disney released this, it'd just have the Muppet Muppets, all others cut.

While in this topic of Muppet Family Christmas, I have made it one of my MUST WATCHES for the Holiday Season, along with others. Here, I'll recommend these to you.
Christmas Eve on Sesame Street
MST3K: Santa vs the Devil
MST3K: Santa Claus conquers the Martians.
Rifftrax: Star Wars Holiday Special
Muppet Christmas Carol
Christmas Toy
Emmette Otter's Jugband Christmas
John Denver and the Muppets Christmas Together
Great Santa Claus Switch.

There's going to be one day this Xmas season where I'm not going to do anything except watch: Muppet Christmas Carol, Letters to Santa, A Very Merry Muppet Christmas, A Christmas Together, Emmet Otter's Jugband Xmas, Christmas Toy, A Muppet Family Christmas, and Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree.

Yes, Disney does own this great special (as far as I heard). Hopefully it will be an extra on this giant blu-ray set we've been hearing about of all the movies, if that is a fact as well.

Disney has full rights to the special and could release it in tact if they wanted to (and I'm sure they'd try to clear up music rights this time).

However, it isn't a matter of not wanting to release this special. It's a matter of not wanting to release any special. other than the three we got with The Muppet Show season sets (two of them were pilots, the other was a rare PBS one), they haven't even discussed things like The Muppets at Walt Disney World.

I'm sure in time, we'll get MFC somewhere... but it all depends on Disney's marketing strategy. Consider we didn't get a lot of 1980's Disney specials on DVD or even VHS either.

That's how I first watched it at the end of last year. I know youtube's not the best quality, but hey, sometimes it delivers.
