Kelly: Uh, well, um ... how's your list coming along? Got any plans tomorrow? Got any tea or water? How've you been?

*Sorry for the delay. *Serving some iced tea and popcorn for both to share. I'm doing okay... Is all okay. The list? Haven't touched it in a while, have to get the Season 39 SST entries all gathered up to start the final layering for V19. I'll tell you this much though... Version 20 will feature the SST Season 40 entries of course. But because of your wonderful fics, I've been convinced to add the two main Henson-era fantasy movies and Dinosaurs, along with a few others as definite newly-added productions to take the list into the next step. *Taking sip from his own glass. There are a few I'm not sure of due to the CGI/puppetry factor... But that can wait.
*Sets Kelly's glass and the bowl down on the little table between them. Actually, my family's getting together for Easter lunch tomorrow.

What about you? Seen DBE yet? Have anything set for tomorrow yourself? Everything okay fic-wise?

Kelly (blushes): Didn't mean to make your list-making so much harder. *takes sip* "CGI-puppetry"? I can't really think of which characters you might mean. There are no Waldo-like characters. Of Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, and Dinosaurs, I think they're all physically there or at least matted in. But they're all real.

I saw DBE this morning. Most people were ... um ... upset ... with the movie. I give it a low B or a C. I would say that they might have benefitted from more money ... but ... honestly ... the Dragonball series was like watching Pokemon. You only get the really cool battles and such with Dragonball Z. I think maybe they may have made a mistake in trying to make this first movie as closer in tone to DBZ though it's kind of a summary of Dragonball. I think that may have confused people. Dragonball was incredibly silly and kiddie. To mix in the angst of DBZ makes it less kiddie, but now you've gone and confused all of the Z fanatics who wanted to see whole solar systems blow up and constant elaborate fighting. They had a BIT of it in there, though. Oozaru does more damage in flashback than in the actual movie, but whatever. I can accept this as a reimagining, just as I accepted it with Spiderman and X-Men. I think the Capsules were done really well. Instead of just "poofing" into existence, it kind of transforms. I personally thought it deserved better than the vile flames it's been getting ... but make no mistake ... it's a popcorn movie at best.

Hm, I don't know if we're doing anything tomorrow or not. My family and holidays don't really get along. Lots of drama around each just makes the whole thing a drag, really. It's just as well, since I have a test Monday to study for anyway.

Fic-wise, I'm totally not hearing any muses. I think that's to help me study.

Heh... Don't worry about the extra load Kell... It comes with the job. Actually, I meant shows like Sid and Sam Plenty and Unstable Fables.

I kinda remember the bits and pieces of DB I used to watch. And to expect something like DBZ with the galaxy wide battles and seven dragons emerging in this movie would be a bit unrealistic. It feels like they wanted to use this as the first, then maybe build on it franchise-wise, so I guess I'm with you in accepting it for what it depicted though I haven't seen it yet. Mmm... Can only imagine what'll happen as the rest of the reimaginings/reboot movies this year will cause in terms of reactions. The new Terminator Salvation, Star Trek, X-Men Origins, and G.I. Joe in the summer, not to mention Transformers 2. Oh well...

*Perks up a little. Maybe what you're missing is a good musical number to drive the story along? Dunno... Seems like your best bet is to tap your roomie for information. *Sips once more.

BTW: Have you any inkling of what may be next for the kingdom of crossworded corridors? (RTL)

Kelly: After watching Sarah Connor last night, I can't WAIT for Terminator Salvation. Wolverine looks good in the previews. I'm willing to see it just for Gambit and the White Queen. *takes sip, munches on some popcorn* Cotterpin HATES my fic. :stick_out_tongue: She feels I'm setting her up to get blamed for something ... which happens to her already down in the Rock ... so she's not real thrilled with me popularizing it some more, heheh. Let's see ... in terms of RTL ... Jake just ran a contest for "spoilers" where you were supposed to come up with bizarre "revelations". I didn't win. *shrugs* All I've seen so far are some preview pics. One had Toby relating how Sarah told him all sorts of fanciful tales as a child as though she had lived it, but at some point she loses her desire for fantasy. Another one shows Jareth and Sarah in her apartment having tea (but no words on that one because it was just a pencil sketch at that point). One of the most recent ones involves what appears to be the ground from underneath the castle caving in, completely destroying it in a sinkhole. I'm pretty sure it'll be intense.

Cotterpin (drives over to Tony's room and bumps into the door several times with her scooter): Hey! I'm lookin' for some, um, "journalist" guy. Spike says he lives here? Do you mind if I ask you some questions?

Cotterpin: Hi! My name is Cotterpin Doozer. My roommate Spike tells me you're an EXPERT in something called "journalism". I wanted to ask you, um, what IS "journalism"? We don't have that kind of thing in Doozer Dome.

Heh... Beth put Red through the same thing during her fics. Wanda too. *Misses her.

Agreed. My best friend will see it for both Wolvie and Gambet, the comic book afficionado he is. I'd be more interested in White Queen myself, though the trailer keeps calling her by her real name instead.

*Thinks. Well... Maybe that'll mean a new kingdom will replace the old. Dunno...

Something I've been meaning to ask about. In TMS Season 3, the Leslie Ann Warren episode... Is there an opening sketch with her and Doglion called Beastie and the Beaut?

Kelly (nods): Oh, yeah! I LOVED that sketch. It's a ballet and if you know the general plot of the Disney flick, it pretty much follows that: beast falls in love with girl, beast gives her a flower (I think), girl runs off, girl comes back, beast dies, girl kisses him ... the only difference is, pre-dating the point of Shrek (actually, I think I mention this in the last act of Comeback), the girl turns into a beast and they dance happily ever after. I was really impressed with the point of the story. I always liked Beast better than the Prince anyway.

Meanwhile....

Cotterpin (fascinated): WOW. We Doozers usually just radio each other on walkie-talkies. YOU, on the other hand, can communicate with EVERYONE so FAST. Kelly and Spike have been teaching me about computers and television and everything. *looks on with concern when Newsie gets inked* Um ... you DO have a good workman's comp set up, right? Your job seems kinda dangerous. *whispers, glancing at Lefty* And don't worry about the peanut gallery over there, sir. In Doozer Dome, I'm architect's apprentice, and I KNOW what it's like to have your ideas ridiculed by those without true vision.

Oh good. Girl turns into beast? How'd they manage that?
You're not the only one who shares that view. I remember that to be my dad's comment when the whole family went to see it late 1992.
*Slight sniffle happy though it is at the remembrance.
