Multi Region DVD players

I just sold my NTSC Region 1 dvd player.
I did it so that I could buy Its A Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie Region 2 DVD- to see it in widescreen.
I was going to buy Daewoo s151, which converts everything- but I heard that it "squashes" widescreen pal dvds so that they might as well be full screen (I dont know if it distorts the quality of the picture or not.)
Does anyone know a better multi region dvd player? The Daewoo is only 50 dollars, so I'm hoping for something at this price.

I actually just got done watching a PAL dvd on my Daewoo...its funny, its a cheap dvd that was free, but it plays darn near everything on a shiny disc format(cds, cd-rs, svcd's, PAL, etc) It converts it fine on my tv though.

I woul dbut those FR dvds, but I heard its only in french, ugh

What about widescreen pal on an ntsc tv.... i heard that daewoo stretches the picture. Have you tried a widescreen region 2? Does it show up in the correct aspect ratio?

Question? Does this thing work with American TV's? And how does one get this? And does it play everything that's region 2? Especially since Fraggle Rock region 2 NON-FRENCH DVD's will be out next year!

Is the Daweooo woo woo woo available in stores and how dependable is it? Does it play all regions? Is it a disk or is it a player? Someone please respond...
