You could still hear David on voiceover segments for a number of years, which was nice.

According to this link, Mr. Hooper only appeared in 156 episodes. That averages to, what, a dozen episodes a season? Seems a little hard to believe.

The full quote is
One character who often spoke with kids about their problems was shopkeeper Mr. Hooper, played by Will Lee. He debuted in 1969 and graced 156 episodes with his presence over a 13-year period.

That can't be right. Although I noticed over the years, not every current cast member appeared in every episode of each season. But 156 episodes over 13 seasons? That can't be right. Actually, it's possible to verify this by going through the episode guide at Muppet Wiki. But I personally don't have time to do that.
