It's a slight difference. But Oscar looked just a tad different in the early 80's than he did in the mid or late 80's. You can tell when Telly is from the early 80's (the Brian Meehl years) because of his droopy expression.

I've noticed differences in the Telly puppet over the years, though most differences were minor. I can see a big difference between the Telly puppet from Big Bird in China, Don't Eat the Pictures, and Follow That Bird, and the Telly puppet used in recent episodes. I've never seen the original Telly Monster, with spiral eyes (though I wonder if he was copletely rebuilt when his personality was changed or if the eyes were just replaced on the original puppet).

I sometimes wonder about that too. And I wonder if we'll ever get to see him as the Television Monster. From what I understand he was the Television Monster during the 1979-1980 Season. I wonder if his voice even sounded slightly different than it did from 1980-1984, even though it was still Brian doing the voice. Mabye someday we'll get to see him as the Television Monster. The thing is, they like to make it seem like the Television Monster never exsisted, that's why they don't consider the first episode with Telly a "Milestone" episode, and probably why it wasn't on Noggin.

Getting back to the original topic (and slightly off-topic), this wasn't actually part of the Mr. Big plot, but there was a street scene in this episode where Telly and some kids were outside Hooper's Store and wanted to play a game. Mr. Handford came along, and Telly asked if he could teach them a game, or a song. He didn't have much time, because Gina was alone in the store. But he figured he could just teach them one song. The song was "Old MacDonald Had an Arm," which was about all the things that you have ON your arm. The unique thing about this street scene is that I think in all the years that he was on the show, I think this was like the only time that Mr. Handford actually played with kids.
