I got the discs today. I didn't think the widescreen took away anything important from the cartoons. It's sort of a shame the Bugs Bunny DVD only has one "Bugs and Daffy" cartoon while the Daffy Duck one has four; I feel like two of those "Bugs and Daffy" cartoons on the Daffy DVD (This is a Life? Person to Bunny) would have been more appropriate for the Bugs Bunny DVD (and did we really need two Tasmanian Devil cartoons on the same Bugs Bunny collection (of course with two Taz cartoons on the Bugs release and "Ducking the Devil" on the Daffy Duck one I wonder if Warner might be trying to make up for the Golden Collections having only one Taz cartoon.... And now there's only one unreleased Taz cartoon on DVD)?

It's been announced that a Road Runner set, titled "Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote: Supergenius Hilarity", will come out on may 24. The contents have been announced... And this will be the first of the Super Stars sets to include cartoons that came after Warner Bros. officially stopped producing animated shorts on a regular basis (the Golden Collections only included post-1969 shorts as bonus features).

It is a bit of a weird line-up. It looks like the Super Stars sets usually presented its shorts in chronological order, but this one seems to show the cartoons in reverse order, though some cartoons are in the wrong order (if they are indeed going in reverse chronological order). As for how low it goes... It actually contains three webtoons with the characters (incorrectly promoted as "2010 Road Runner shorts"). It will also have the two made-for-TV Road Runner shorts (though the last two Golden Collections included the specials they originated in as bonus features), plus Chariots of Fur, The Wizzard of Ow, and Little Go Beep.

This will also be the first DVD release of the Road Runner shorts directed by Rudy Larriva, and will have six of those, in addition to one of the two Road Runner shorts directed by Robert McKimson. I'm not disapointed here; I'd been hoping they'd be released on DVD for years (they'd never been released on VHS at all... the only other commercial release of them is on some japanese laserdisc sets). But I am surprised that it doesn't have any of the classic-era Chuck Jones shorts. I was hoping for Hopalong Casualty and Beep Prepared to be included (considering Beep Prepared is the only Oscar-nominated short, I'm surprised by the lack of a commercial release; the only commercial release of that short was on a laserdisc release). The only Chuck Jones shorts in this release will be Freeze Frame, Soup or Sonic, and Chariots of Fur.
