Now that I'm in college, I have a little more to choose from (literally, in high school, my graduating class had four girls in it). Well, the only girl I'm interested in now is a girl named Mercedes (I know, could her name be any sexier?:flirt: ). Blond hair, Southern twang to her voice, belly button pierce, gorgeous, just gorgeous. Well, anyway, I really wanna get to know her better, so we exchange e-mails. I e-mail her once, and then she tells me "Oh, I don't even have a computer. I check my e-mail at the library, though not very often". So, I get through my boring English class and meet Mercedes and ask her to go to Starbucks with me. She says "Oh, I'm not sure; why don't you e-mail me?" So, clearly it's up to me to make the next move, but she's playing the same games with me that I had to put up with in high school. I mean, I know she'll end up hurting me, but my heart must be a glutton for punishment. Every girl I've ever been interested in does this to me. You would've thought I'd've learned, but aparently I haven't. So, if anyone has any advice, I'll take it, because I trust all of you.

I think this is pretty much why ever since middle school (when a big-mouthed friend told the girl I had a crush on about my having a crush on her and then she ended up hating me) I've never tried to approach the girl I adore... if you've read the "Lovesick Teenager's Clud" thread, you'll see I even wanted to ask her to dance with me at a party but I just couldn't.

Oh well, at least I've still got Kathy Greenwood.:stick_out_tongue:

Well it's one of two things. One is the most obvious 1) She's stringing you along like a cheap string with beads or 2) She doesn't realize you are advancing on her and therefor doesn't see anything wrong.

I like #2 . Heck, those are the kinds of things I would do to my best friends, so I wouldn't be too worried yet. Us girls are fickle creatures (and painfully oblivious sometimes!).

Well, see, Sarah, I think that she's playing me *because* she realizes I'm advancing on her.

Ahh as was choice number one.

Then if that's the case, then I guess it's time to move on.

As a girl who never gets attention from guys, it's weird to see how attention from someone who is a sweet hearted as you could be totally put off.

Well, sometimes girls are really weird, and they just do things like that. Whether they like the guy or not, they'll still play them. Sometimes they think it's fun to play guys like that, other times they're just confused about what they really want. Some girls are really hard to read because of that. But, I think you should do whatever feels right to you. Whether you think you should move on, or whether you think you really do want to get to know this girl better and you want to stick it out. If you do still want to try and go for it, I was thinking... have you asked her for her phone number? That would take the e-mail out of it entirely. And, I was also thinking, if you're a confident, straightforward guy, then the direct approach might be nice... tell her straight out that you like her, and see what she says. Though, maybe do that only if you're pretty sure you could do it without any weirdness or anything, you know what I mean? But ultimately, it is up to you... what you think would be the best choice for you. And you know, if you just don't like this whole "playing hard to get" game of hers, then go ahead and move on. And try to find a girl who you know is as real and honest as you seem to be.

It's probably best that you move on, it seems that she's not that interested in you, and she's just doing this to spare your feelings by stringing you along. She may not realize it but that's what it seems like to me. Women that are named after cars aren't ones to mess with anyways. They are too messy and seem to be headed toward a job as a stripper or making movies or something. Good luck.

And with that, this will be my new signature!

BTW, thank you ALL for your advice; I knew you'd come through for me!

There was this one girl that I really liked in the Melodrama that I'm a part of, but due to the fact that I only saw her once a year, nothing ever developed, and I moved on, or so I thought. Halfway through practice for my third melodrama, the girl took over for this other woman, and her role turned out to be the girlfriend of my character's best friend. So, we ended up working together a lot.

It didn't take long for my interest in her to return, and it didn't help, when she started to do certain things. One day she jokingly asked how I liked her outfit (which was typical Melodrama, bust accentuated fare), and another day, as a practice prank the girl and the woman playing my girlfriend in the play switched seats for this one scene. I thought I was keeping cool, but obviously not, as in a way to "calm me down", she gave me a slight back massage, under the back of my shirt.

Now at this point, I was convinced that she was flirting with me/coming on to me, so I decided I was going to reveal my feelings for her. The day came and I couldn't get her alone, so I waited. The next day, a member of our background band showed up, and turned out to be her boyfriend, for almost that whole year. So, in other words, sometimes girls can be cruel, you just have to live with it.
