More CGI Looney Tunes shorts

I'm sure we all know about the CGI Road Runner/Coyote cartoons that WB made not long ago. Well, here's some clips from their latest forays:

It seems odd to me that they're making new ones in CGI while they have a regular 2D show on TV.

I'm sure these are just theatrical shorts, like that Wile E. Coyote one was for the Yogi Movie.

What's more curious is the source material... they're old Looney Tunes novelty songs. Something they oddly didn't animate for 50 years.

NO! Roadrunner and Wile Coyote must stand in Hand Drawn Animation! So what if 2d can't be in 3D. (Though we have these shorts to thank for the New animated shorts before Winnie The Pooh and the Toy Story one before the Muppets)

Maybe it's due to the fuzzy quality of the Daffy Duck short, but if you squint just hard enough, it almost looks like regular animation. If it had cel shading, I probably couldn't have told the difference from that grainy footage. At least they got the fluidity of movement right. Much better than Madagascar ever did.

Hmm...I'm okay with this. Just as long as the cgi continues to keeps the original feel of the characters, and that we will still see them in 2D form elsewhere. I think it's neat that they're using Mel Blanc's recording for the shorts.

Here's a (mostly) full version of "I Tawt I taw a Putty Tat":

If there's one thing I don't care for is the realistic textures of the characters (the fur and feathers), but I'm a sucker for good, ol' cartoon violence.

Whatever magic hoodoo they did with remastering these old tracks to make them sound extremely clear and completely new almost threw me. I thought whoever's singing is doing a dead on Mel Blanc, and I couldn't put my finger on who it was... but it was Mel Blanc's original recording (other than some ADR for grunts).

If they cel shaded these in the right way, you probably couldn't tell they were CGI. They're so bouncy and fully animated. How come it took them this long to perfect CGI animation to have the flow and bounce of traditional? They spend so much time trying to make things look realistic, few companies manage to make things look cartoony. I wish they could afford this quality of CGI for the Looney Tunes Show Road Runner shorts. Those look like a video game cutscene.
