Yes, you read correctly, our very own divine porcine will finally be recognised as the gender barrier breaking, empowered and influential pig we all know her to be!!

Along with the acceptance of the reward, there will be a 20 minute retrospective of her career and a conversation with Gloria Steinem. Accompanying Piggy will of course be Kermit the Frog in support of her big night.

I have no idea if these awards are televised or not ,but in the least, we should end up seeing some great photos (and maybe bootlegged footage- you never know!)

So what is this? A less-distinguished, generic version of a Lifetime Achievement Award?

Let's hope that this award will lead to hear being a little less grumpy. :stick_out_tongue:

Looking at the word "feminist" in the article, I don't think I even need to bother to read it to get the gist of it. Does anyone even use that word to not insult women anymore?

The prestigious Sackler Center First Award is presented to women who have broken barriers and charted changes in all disciplines and areas. Past honorees include Associate Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor (ret.), Toni Morrison, Jessye Norman, Susan Stroman and Julie Taymor, to name just a few.

Someone had to hate! But she read him like a PRO in her speech:

Miss Piggy: Why I Am a Feminist Pig
"...
Some Internet opinion givers may question whether moideserves such an honor. After all, some might say moi is just a mere Hollywood celebrity who cares more about her appearance, her star billing and her percentage of the gross than about women and women’s rights.

To which I can only respond: “Oh yeah!?!” By which, of course, I mean that moi is now and has always been an ardent feminist and champion of women’s rights.

I believe that any woman who refuses to accept society’s preconceived notions of who or what they can be is a feminist. I believe any woman who is willing to struggle, strive — and if necessary learn karate — to make their mark in the world is a feminist. And, yes, I believe that any woman, who cares about her appearance, her star billing and most especially her percentage of the gross, is a feminist.
"

Moi is all of these things....

It's about time someone recognizes her!!!
(and yes i'm talking to you people who make the Academy Awards)

The last time she won an award was at the Young Artist Awards in 1981 for her performance for "The Great Muppet Caper" but that's nothing compared to this!

Moi am so happy for her!!
You go girl!
