and now, here is my third Muppet Show outline, which by coincidence takes place in the fourth season. it is also a good way for Rowlf to finally be the star of a backstage plot.



Cold Opening/ Dressing Room

Scooter: Oh, Jimmy Dean! 15 seconds 'till curtain!

Jimmy Dean: Thanks, Scooter. Oh, and one thing. I have noticed that you always tell the guest stars when the show is about to start, even when we aren't in the opening number. what's up with that?

Introduction

kermit introduces the openign number, featuring Jimmy Dean and the Jugband.

Opening Number: Sweet Home Alabama
Jimmy dean and the jugband perform Sweet Home Alabama.

Balcony

Statler: ya know, i'd like to be in alabama now.

Waldorf: Why?

Statler: because then I wouldn't be here.

Canteen
Rowlf talks to Gladys, Floyd, Luncheon Counter Monster and Annie Sue Pig about how he used to be a regular on Jimmy Deans show, and can't wait to see him again.

Editorial by Sam the Eagle
Sam is disgusted by all of the violence on television, so crazy harry blows him up.

Backstage
Rowlf is outside of Jimmy Deans dressing room, but before he can knock, a dog catcher comes and takes him to the pound.

Pigs in Space
the swinetrek is attacked by giant mutated sausages.

backstage
robin tells kermit that Rowlf was captured by the dog pound. kermit decides to go to the pound and rescue Rowlf, and puts Robin in charge of the show.

Introduction
robin comes on-stage to introduce the next act, but he doesn't know what the next act is.

Sketch
the next act involves bearuegard acting as a repair man, but the customer doens't answer the door. it turns out that Robin was supposed to be in the sketch, but forgot and then remembered, but when he runs on-stage he messes up the sketch.

Balcony

waldorf: ya know, it's getting hard to tell if the accidents are planned or not.

U.K. Spot: Monster Mash
Uncle deadley sings Monster mash and his back-up singers are three goth female singers. various monsters (Boppity, Gloat, Luncheon Counter Monster, Green Hunchback frackle, Miss Kitty, Gorgon Heap, and behemoth) run around during the song. it takes place in a haunted house.

Talk Spot Robin fills in for kermit, explaining that kermit went to rescue rowlf. Jimmy dean talks about how rowlf was a regular on his show, and was disapointed over the amount of fan mail that Rowlf got (more than Jimmy Dean ever got).

Muppet Labs
Bunsen invents a metal detector, which goes wild in the lab, so he and beaker dig for metal on the muppet labs set (the metal beeping is a result of the amount of metal machines in the lab).

Backstage
Dr. teeth goes backstage looking for Kermit so that he can give kermit some money that he owes kermit, but Robin poins out that Kermit is gone. Since Dr. Teeth has to wait awhile to pay kermit back, he decides to go out and spend his money.

Introduction
Robin introduces The Great Gonzo.

Act
Gonzo does his act: nothing! he just stands still, even as the audience boos him and throws heavy objects at him.

The Swedish Chef
The Swedish Chef tries to cook something, but he keeps putting boxes in the pots and pans. Gladys walks on-stage and insults him.

Backstage/ Closing Number
Rowlf finally gets out of the dog pound (it turs out that the dog catcher wasn't really a dog catcher after all; he was just a crazy guy who wanted his own dog). Rowlf encounters Jimmy dean, and they sing a special reunion song (written especially for this episode). They get joined by Kermit, Droop, Nigel, Gladys, Scooter, Miss Piggy, Bunsen, and beauregard.

Good Night
Kermit closes the show, and is joined by Jimmy dean, Rowlf, Gladys, The Swedish Chef, Beaker, Uncle Deadley, and Gramps.

heh heh, poor Robin. I like the talk spot, especially. Another one very well done. You just keep cranking these out!

for those of you who are wondering who is supposed to perform who:

•Luncheon Counter Monster (in the canteen scene) is supposed to be performed by Dave Goelz.
•the dog catcher is performed by Peter Friedman.
•the mutated sausages are performed by dave goelz, steve whitmire and louise gold.
•the three goth singers in the u.k. spot are supposed to be performed by Louise Gold, Richard Hunt and Frank Oz. as for the monsters in that number, Jim Henson performs boppity, steve whitmire performs gloat, peter friendman performs Luncheon Counter Monster, green Hunchback frackle is performed by Jerry Nelson, Miss Kitty is performed by Steev Whitmire, Jim Henson performs Gorgon Heap, and Dave Goelz performs Behemoth (well, at least if any of them have vocal parts, that is).
