I went to youtube.com and watched the Milk Crisis film. I haven't seen it in ages and for some reason it was very emotional for me to watch. I don't know if it brought me back to childhood or what. It seemed, based on the comments, that it affected others the same way. (I am 31)

Does anyone know what years this film ran for, or anything about the music, or anything else about the film?

Milk crisis film

Hi- The "milk crisis film" was a favorite in my house as well! I wish I knew more about it, but here goes:

I'm not sure exactly which year it was first shown, but it was obviously the early to mid 1970s. It can be seen on an episode of "Sesame Street Unpaved", though I don't know which one (Anybody know?) I can recall seeing it on the show as late as the late 1980s and perhaps into the early 1990s. It has very cool music which I assume was written especially for the film.

I can tell you a lot about this film. It's called "Milk - from Cows to Market to Home." It was made in 1974, and it was last seen on 12/31/90, which was episode #2781. It was KILLED in 1992. However, it can be seen on Unpaved episodes #1037 and #1364. I can also tell you that the music for this film was written by someone named Robert Dennis. There were 5 different pieces of music for this film, though I don't remember all the titles. I think my favorite piece of music was the one that was in the middle, where the truck was traveling, with the late-night piano music. I also wonder where exactly this film was shot. It looks like it could be upstate New York, but I'm not sure.

Milk Music

First of all, I remember seeing this film in the late '80s as well. I was 2 years old at the time and it scared the heck out of me because of the ridiculously high voice the singer used. I saw it on YouTube recently and the music reminded me of Nico from the Velvet Underground. It was quiet, but also somewhat unsettling, much like a lot of Nico's music (a good example of this might be "All Tomorrow's Parties" or her solo song "These Days".) The vocals were pretty much opposite Nico's (the "Milk" singer, whom I believe is Blossom Dearie, had ridiculously high vocals, whereas Nico's were usually ridiculously low.) It's amazing how much classic rock music seemed to have an impact on classic Sesame Street.
