That's how every studio is. It's nothing new. That's just the process.

Jamie's right, developing multiple projects at once is standard operating procedure in Hollywood. It would be bad business to focus everything on just one project-- if that project doesn't come off or is a flop you're in real trouble. You have a better chance of surviving a failed project if there's another (or twelve) in the wings.

There are always Muppet movies in development-- it's been that way for years upon years. We've heard bits about some of the possible projects (Muppet Haunted Movie ring any bells?). But there is a huge difference between in development and pre-production. The Princess Bride was in development for about a decade, at various studios, before Rob Reiner brought it to the screen.

I suspect the bio is basically telling us two things-- 1) Henson wants to continue making Muppet feature films and 2) Lisa will be the Henson in charge of developing those films (maybe not producing them, but developing them). Strikes me as good, even if it doesn't mean something is going to happen soon.

Well yeah there are about four movie ideas that you could call 'in development' but i think what Phillip means is in 'active development'. I think they are concentrating on other stuff right now and the older ideas are just in limbo. Pre-Production is a million miles away from something being in active development. I mean for a start, they'd need a movie deal to be in pre-production. Any theatrical movie idea is going to be overseen by Lisa obviously as she is head of JHP and all the Muppet movies are produced by them. It's a good sign to see them to actually bother to put something like that in a bio though.

I do understand, but it seems to me they had no trouble getting Good boy out.

As a loyal Henson fan, everytime the previews for the movie come on, I hang my head in shame...

I wish that any Muppet project would come before these talkin' dawg pictures... we have too many already! :grouchy:

Good Boy is a primarily MGM production... in association with the Jim Henson Company.

I definitely meant "active development". It goes without saying that there are sometimes half-a-dozen scripts or so at any given time that are under serious consideration. Whether or not they see the light of day and actually get a "green light" with a multi-million dollar budget is a whole other matter.

Henson is interested in doing another made-for-TV movie. This is much more likely for the near future, rather than another theatrical release.

I agree. Pre production usually takes a while even when everything is go. It doesn't seem so with this case. I have a feeling that the TV specials will air next year. Just a feeling though.

It is good that they haven't given up hope on a new Muppet film after the poor performance of MFS.

Fun fact. Did you know that these days 1/3 of a film is already edited before the end of production? It used to take 6 months to a year of post production to edit a film. Not anymore. Computers.
