The Thunderbirds (perhaps the most famous of marionettes) used controls in the mouth (Much like the Gorgs I imagine) to control the mouth, and eyes. I think there is a method to move them with straing but I have no idea how that works...

Not neccescarily springs, I often just weight the back of the lower jaw behindthe pivot point. Much less fiddly than trying to get the correct tension on the spring.

I saw a Marinett that had one on line, But it was a Big one, I don't know that much about Marinetts, sorry I geuss i shouldn't have add my two scents.
