how do you make marionets mouths move??

The Thunderbirds (perhaps the most famous of marionettes) used controls in the mouth (Much like the Gorgs I imagine) to control the mouth, and eyes. I think there is a method to move them with straing but I have no idea how that works...

No really, it's a simple spring mechinisim control by an extra string!

Puppetise, if you go to your local library, many (most?) decent books on marionette construction should explain a method for doing this.

No really, it's a simple spring mechinisim control by an extra string!

Not neccescarily springs, I often just weight the back of the lower jaw behindthe pivot point. Much less fiddly than trying to get the correct tension on the spring.
