Here is a little puppet that I made for a personal project I am developing.

Kittie 1

The thing that was challenging for me on this puppet was that I needed the puppet to be much smaller than the other characters, but I don't want to build a rod puppet. I persoanlly don't like the ridgid movement that is achieved with rod puppets.

I designed the puppet to fit over a hand but to have the mouth operated with the index finger/middle finger together and the thumb (for the lower jaw).

Kittie 2

It actually turned out very well. The movement is exactly what I wanted and there is a life in the puppet that I don't think it would have had if it were a rod puppet.

I saw this cat on Flickr and loved it. I ran in to similar problem with some penguins I have been working on. Small puppets with heads to small to fit a hand in. I hate building rod mechs so the mouth is operated by inserting your index finger in to the head which sounds similar to what you've done here.

It would be really interesting to see how this puppet moves, if you have the time to do a quick video of it at some point.

I would proably have to add that to my list of "things to do"; which at this point is longer than my arm.

Thanks Iokitek.

He is approx. 8" (21 c.m.) from the top of his ears to his bottom However I have added a 6" (16 c.m.) sleeve to hide the puppeteers arm, just in case there is some over extention while performing.

When I have time I hope to do more with the project and I will be sure to post the results here.
