I think part of the reason would also be becuase it would ruin kids thoughts on Kermit. If you said Kermit's not allowed to lie it'll make much more sense. But then we could probably think of times where Kermit lied too.

It's hard for me to know what I think about that idea until I see it action, which of course will never happen now, lol. There's nothing wrong with deception for good reason of course, that's a big part of why Kermit is often forced to lie (the other times being to throw off Miss Piggy, lol).
