Luis and Maria sketch

I remember a sketch with Luis and Maria that I would estimate debuted in 1976 or 1977. But I don't think Luis played himself in this sketch. The man played by Luis has something in a bag. He asks Maria to try to guess what's in the bag. She tells him she can't guess because it could be one of millions of possibilities. He continues to prompt her to guess so she says , "Okay, it's a pumpkin with a wig and sunglasses." He gleefully says, "Wrong!" Maria says, "Well of course it's wrong." He reveals the contents of his bag saying, "It's a pumpkin with a wig and sunglasses AND sneakers!" Maria walks away in disbelief. He gleefully says to the pumpkin, "Heh heh, we fooled her."

i remember this though couldn't recall exactly what the skit was about though i remember she was disgusted with him indeed.

Another 70's one with Luis and Maria had Luis first telling the audience about how useful tools can be around the house. He was opening a can of spaghetti with a can opener. But then when he picked up the can I think it all came out the bottom and onto the table. And he sighed or shrugged his shoulders in disgust. Then the camera turns to Maria who also starts a lecture about tools being useful around the house. She is showing how useful a hammer can be by nailing a picture to the wall. After she hammers it in place she says, "There. That's nice." And then she turns to the audience and continues to talk some more about tools. But within seconds the wall that she hammered the picture into falls down! (A side note: This same thing happened once on "Green Acres"! ) Then Maria lets out a rather startled and frightened cry.

actually the whole wall falls down. i had mentioned the Luis skit in the SS cast thread i think.

Yes that's what I meant the entire wall behind her where she put the picture. And yeah I just looked at the SS cast thread and you mentioned there about Luis and the spaghetti. I was also going to mention another 70's Luis and Maria one where he said "Cerrado" for closed and she said "Alberto" for open and she opens the door as he is trying to run into it and he then runs through the doorway and crashes into things at the right of the screen. But I think I saw that one posted before somewhere so I didn't mention it. (Of course now I did mention it though! )

I was just thinking about the sketch where two people assemble a couple pieces on the wall that look like the opening to a train tunnel. I'm trying to remember which two people were in this. I think it was probably Luis and Maria. I'm pretty sure about Maria but can't say quite as sure for Luis. This is the one where after they correctly put the pieces up to make the tunnel picture, a train then comes through it.

actually it was Luis and Bob. it certainly scared the **** out of me.

Oh Bob. Yeah that was a little on the scary side as a kid. I remember each time it came on I would feel safe as long as that music was playing. But then when the music stopped it got tenser because then we hear the sound of the train in the distance on its way. I think they hugged each other in fear until it came through right? And then once it came through, I remember just a lot of wind and they were pretty upset. But no real damage done at least. Unless it was supposed to be damage that we couldn't see from the other side!

That's cool though, all it takes is two for some great classic SS reminiscing!
Here, you can be like Kermit and I'll be like Grover running up. "Heyyyyyyy mikeybabyyyyy!" *Slaps your back hard*.

I wonder what Luis and Bob were upset about since the train didn't really do any harm. Even their picture of the tunnel was still intact. Guess it was just the harrowing aspect of a real train emerging and knowing that if one came through more could be on the way in the future!

There is one more sketch that I know had Maria and someone else but I hardly recall enough details to ring any bells about it. I just recall they were in that room again and at one point they shrug their shoulders. I think an unseen voice does the talking in this one and Maria and the other person don't speak audibly. Maybe they were trying to do something with drawers or tables but I don't recall. But whatever it is, I know it had Maria. I clearly remember her shrugging her shoulders a couple of times in response to something the unseen person said to them.
