i agree with you on some level, however i think that the Star Wars triology was absolutley great, but like you said, our generation clams this one for our own!!

i went to go see the Two Towers last night. I was amashed at everything!! I loved it all. it was brilliantly done.

as for the character golum, i think he was ment to become an emotional roller coster ride. i hated him then i liked him, then pitty, hate and so on. thats just my oppinion.

i thought that it was great that they added the comic relief. for ex., when Legolas asked the dwarf if he needed a box, i thought that was hillarious!!! or when golum talked to himself!!

this movie is one of my all time faves.

By the way, has anyone read the book?

do you think that the books would still be as enjoyable after you have seen the movies?

Believe it or not, Drama Queen, yours is an incredibly difficult question to answer.

I guess the straight, honest answer would be No. The movie is definitely quite different than the book. However, all of the differences, when watched with a non-critical, understanding eye, make perfect sense and add a lot to the story and movie as a whole. It can be quite hard to do so, but those of us who are die-hard LOTR fans just have to move past the differences... Peter Jackson only changed and added and omitted what he thought (and most of the time- knew!) would make the film better as a whole.

And yes, I will still enjoy the book just as much, if not more, than before!

thanks for the insight, i need to read them. my dad and bro-in-law are die hard fans, they read the book and love the movie. my

dad is also the one who got me interested in Star Wars, so i love the older ones more than Eposiod 1 and 2. every thing just lookes fake in the new ones.

thank you for ur advice, i'll start reading soon.

When I read "The Two Towers," I had to put it down for almost a year before picking it up again...I found it very slow going. Fulfilling trilogy after I was done reading it, but it was torturous for me.

I find it hillarious people are complaining it didnt match the book. It's like saying 'hey, the Klingons dialect wasnt word for word like the book!'

One thing I gotta give for th eLOTR series is the awe striking beauty of the scenery. New Zealand really looks like that? dang. And to think Peter Jackson was doing low budget porno puppet films just a decade ago.

I really disliked that Gollum guy, but I guess that was the point.
Yeah, ok...so these new 'Episode Prequel' Star Wars films pale in comparison to the original trilogy. To be honest I am mor enamored with the Star Wars and Fantasy films of the 80's than the new stuff. CGI to me is great, but there was something about animatronics and puppetry. hmmm...

I feel bad for the kids raised to day. Hardly any abundance of Muppet programming, or heck even quality children's programing. Kid's shows shoul dbe aimed at stimulating th eimagination, exploration, and creativity...not mindless drivel like Barney, Power Rangers, Telletubbies, etc.

Finally...its weird people made such a stink at supposed 'ethnic' stereotypes in Episode One. As after seeing LOTR 1&2 I realized: LOTR would be big in pre 50's Germany:wink:

Sure thing! And yes, you DO need to read them! But one word of advice: Do not give up. It is very slow going, but if you stick with it, even though it might take you half a year, its very much worth it. Also, when reading, forget everything you saw in any of the movies. There are a lot of major differences, but the book is just as good as the movies, if you'll put aside any pre-conceived notions and ideas as far as character attitudes, appearances, and actions.

I couldn't agree more! That's what really irked me about Ep.2: The CGI Yoda. He looked so FAKE! With a puppet, you may not be able to get the full body shots and fluid motion, but at least it looks REAL, and actually literally interacts with the human actors.

Aaw, why!?! He was great in the movie... a lot more heart-wrenching and enjoyable than in the novel. I never really picked up that he was a pschizo when reading the book, but in the movie, they illustrated it beautifully, alternatingly making you hate him, love him, pity him, hate him again, etc. Unlike the stoic, boring Yoda, he is a real character, with true emotions and realistic expressions. Like the part when he tells himself "I hates you" and starts crying? WATERWORKS! That broke my heart!

I totaly agree!! To me that wasn't really Yoda. and i realy didnt like what they did to the old episodes, when they added the deleted scenens. that complelty ruined the hole movie. im not saying that i dont enjoy the movies, but its hard to appresiate them as much as i do the oldies, ya, you can tell that i was raised with the 80's era too. which explanes why i love the labrynth so much, i'm sorry but david bowie is cute in that film! maybe its just me! well thats getting off the subject.

to sum it all up, i like the oldies more than the new ones, but i still love them all!!!
