I don't know about the depression study, though it makes sense, since everybody's addicted to social media, and therefore, there's not a whole lot of personal contact out there anymore; but I for one basically have little to nothing to do with social media myself: I don't like Facebook, I find Twitter to be pointless, I closed my MySpace account a couple of years ago, etc.

Still... uh... I... MIGHT... spend... a LITTLE TOO much time... on the internet... maybe... probably... perhaps... I don't know... -_-

People can be addicted to all sorts of media-related things; non-computer video games, television, and I think that compulsive shopping probably has some root in amount of advertisements consumed. It's no surprise that the internet has the same potential for addiction.

Well I have a Facebook mainly so I can keep in touch with my friends who live abroad. Otherwise I would probably delete mine. I do admit I am on there more then I should be. Like Vincent I come to MC way toooo much as well. I closed my myspace account years ago because it was really pointless having two social networks. So in other words yeah...I have no life. :stick_out_tongue:

However I would take personal contact any day over social media. I'm not saying I am one who doesn't check my phone when out in public however I am not nearly as bad as some of these people who have their face buried in their phones like it's attached to their hands. But I was mental even before all this high tech media came out. :stick_out_tongue:

I've become addicted to ONE twitter feed. I check my own if I happen to be online, but I've begun checking out someone else's posts at night on my phone as well. That has more to do with being a fan-obsessive than a media-obsessive though.

MC and DA are the only places I bother with, really. And they tend to cheer me up, not make me feel more isolated. I am already highly isolated. This IS my social time.

I've been addicted to MC as of late. It's probably the most I've been active here in years lol.

I got over my addiction of Facebook and Twitter, but not Wikipedia and MC Forums.
