Looks like Little Shop of Horrors is coming to LA - this appears to be an offshoot of the Broadway Production with the Creature Shop doing the puppets. Not sure if this is an additional production, a tour or if it means that the New York production will be closing.

Here's the article from Playbill:

Audrey II Sprouts Up in Los Angeles as Zaks' Little Shop of Horrors Set for Ahmanson

The Jerry Zaks revival staging of Little Shop of Horrors will play as the final production of Los Angeles' Ahmanson Theatre 2003-2004 season, Aug. 24-Oct. 17.

The Howard Ashman-Alan Menken musical based on the 1960 Roger Corman film, which currently plays at the Virginia Theatre, is set to open on the west coast Aug. 29.

The California run will reteam the director with his Broadway collaborators ?nbsp;choreographer Kathleen Marshall and designers Scott Pask (scenic), William Ivey Long (costume), Donald Holder (lighting) and T. Richard Fitzgerald (sound). Michael Kosarin handles music supervision with music direction by Henry Aronson.

Little Shop of Horrors features book and lyrics by the late Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken. The musical, immortalized in the 1986 Frank Oz film starring Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene and Steve Martin, follows the trials of a Skid Row florist who discovers his exotic plant ?named for his co-worker whom he pines for ?nbsp;needs more than sunlight and water to stay alive.

The score features such memorable songs as "Suddenly Seymour," "Somewhere That's Green," "Downtown," "Dentist!" and the title song.

The production features an array of plants designed by The Jim Henson Workshop and Martin P. Robinson ?who designed the plant used in the original 1982 Off Broadway production.

Tickets go on sale in April. For more information, call (213) 628-2772 or visit www.taperahmanson.com.
