This thread is where we talk about actress Linda Bove.
When I was young, I never understood why Linda didn't speak normally, but it wasn't until a few years later that I realized she couldn't hear, so she helped me understand what deafness is and how deaf people communicate.
From 1972 to 2003 on Sesame Street, Linda has done a fantastic job in showing children the various issues deaf people go through on a regular basis, and even teaching them some basic signs in American Sign Language. Real groundbreaking stuff for a kid's show at the time!
Even though Linda is no longer on the show, she continues to work for the deaf community to this very day. So, I give my Congras to you, Linda Bove, for your many years of hard work in giving a strong voice to the deaf community, showing that they are just as capable as those who can hear!
