Does anyone remember a musical skit about life in the city and the country?
The first part showed a female Anything Muppet dressed kind of like Pollyanna, on a farm setting. With a sweet farm-girl voice, she sings a song about living in the country. The last line went:
"Oh lady-oh, oh lady-ee. Life in the country is the life for me."
The second part showed a male AM dressed like (if I remember correctly) like a pimp standing at night on a city street. Occasional vehicles drive by. With a very 70s jive accent, he sings a song about living in the city. The only line I remember was (inexact) "<something>out on the stoop, that's where the cats all meet." Even the music was now a city/nightclub/piano sound.
They went back to the first scene
Country girl: "Oh I'd love to see the city, all the buses and the lights"
Then the second.
City guy: "And I can/just dig the country with its, trees and starry nights"
The third part showed both scenes in a split screen (one camera) as they continued singing their respective "lady-oh" parts as they danced back and forth into each other's domain. Just before the end, a milk truck drove from the country into the city -- perhaps to emphasize the economic relationship between the two?
Note that this skit is not to be confused with the AM adaptation of "The City Mouse and the Country Mouse". You know, where the city mouse has a piano and eats pizza, but the cat "...just wants to catch us, and eat us, for dinner."
