Leslie Carrara-Rudolph played Spamela Hamderson on Muppets TOnight and just got back from New York shooting the debut of her new character Abby on Sesame Street.

She is performing LIVE in North Hollywood this Saturday, so if you're in the area, you MUST go check it out! It's a kid's holiday show featuring Puppets, Music and more! It's hilarious (and I'm not just saying that because I'm a special guest in the show)! The info is below.

Also, Leslie (and her alter ego Lolly) donated the song MEAT COOKIES to the Comedy Music Compilation LAUGHTER IS A POWERFUL WEAPON VOL. 2. All proceeds from the sale of the CD go to Hurricane relief and the CD also features rare and unreleased tracks by "Weird Al" Yankovic, Barnes & Barnes (the FISH HEADS) guys, Steven Banks (writer for SpongeBob and Billy The Mime in The Aristocrats) and more! Check it out at: http://www.FunnyMusicians.com

Hope to see you at Leslie's show on Saturday! if you come, be sure to come say hey!

Wow!! Tell her congrats on the part! I'm now soooo thrilled that I actually got to audition with the puppet that she got use. I know may sound silly but for someone still trying to get their dreams to take flight it was a step in the right direction and I am absolutely thrilled that she got the part. I was seriously bummed out for two days after not hearing any call back. Nor any critcism whatsoever except of the positive feedback I heard at the casting company in Atlanta. I now look on that experience as it was a hey this is what an audition is like. I definately need to kick my skill up a couple of notches in order to compete with the top talent.Still tell Leslie congrats! I loved her part on Muppets Tonight! She's an amazing performer. And I look forward to see what she brought to Sesame Street with her look of Abby.

Would someone mind explaining the background of this? Was this during a special Sesame Street casting call you all went to to try out for specific new characters? Details would be great for the rest of us who are in the dark about it.

It's a new character on Sesame Street Named Abby. From what I gather she's a little Fairy type character. She'll be in a few episodes just to see how folks react to her. That's about all I know.

Very likeable positive person. She might be one of the few people that acts like a living Muppet and would be a blessing to Sesame.

I couldn't agree with you more. Leslie is SO awesome. I'm SO happy for her because this a true dream come true for someone who's worked SO hard for it!

I also forgot to mention she has a website now too...

What does that mean "acts like a living Muppet"?

oh..okay. Um she always seems to have a smile on her face, very very funny, cute, jokes around, seems to draw attention to herself, bubbly, a lively spirit.

Just like Spamela!.. and just like a Muppet!

I do believe at one time she drove around with toys glued to the top of her car and home made signs attached to the car as well. I don't remember what the signs said, perhaps something like 'Be Happy' or something like that.

sesame street auditions

These took place in Atlanta GA, CA, Toronto, and NY..The one in Atlanta took place a week before the Muppet Auditions. I really wanted to go to the ones in NY for the Muppets but my college schedule was too busy at the time. I was sooo upset and wanted to go so badly, but the door was closed. About a week after I found out about the Muppet auditions I received an e-mail from my puppetry guild. You know being a member of Puppeteers of America really pays off sometimes. They sent me the information to contact the casting company that were holding auditions and then I just called and they sent me the information about the character and songs and skits to rehearse. I heard from a few friends of mine that auditioned in NY for the Muppets that the Sesame Street auditions were there too. I apologize for not posting anything about it. Next time I hear anything like that again I will let you guys know. Again I'm really sorry for not letting you know. If you want to see though who needs puppeteers or about a few auditions then go to puppeteers.org. Hope this helps. Just remember the acting business is really competitive and if you want anything to happen you have to make it happen. True you might have the luck for being discovered at a theater or something but it helps also to get your name out. Little by little things are happening for me and I hope that oneday I will hear back from the auditions because my audition tape is on record. My problem was they needed someone with more television experience and I don't have that yet. But I have the determination and I'm not giving up! Okay...I'm done rambling now..Hope this encourages someone to keep on keeping on!
