Most of you guys know who he is, he obviously needs no introduction. One of the most famous athletes of all time, Muhammad Ali died tonight at the age of 74. He was an icon who broke down barriers for not only african americans in boxing, but all sports and not only in sports but socially as well. Ali was a civil rights icon and later helped to break down barriers for Muslim Americans as well.
He began training at the age of 12 and and at 22 years old he won the world heavyweight championship.
Of course, he is also the father of the undefeated boxing champion Laila Ali.

The poor guy suffered a lot in his later years with Parkinson's and all that, largely from all those blows to the head. Unlike other boxers like Mike Tyson and George Foreman who retired while they still could, Ali refused to throw in the towel and it really took a toll on his health as a result. It's amazing he managed to live this long.

I'll always admire his stand on the Viet Nam war. He refused to go, so they stripped him of his title and he almost went to jail. How many athletes or celebrities today would risk their fame and career to stand by their beliefs?

A sports legend by all accounts, we mourn the loss of the greatest boxer ever in my opinion. Rest in Peace, champ.
