I was thinking that too. So, yeah, let's go with Scooter instead of Hilda in the goodnights for the Avery Schrieber episode.

As for the goodnights in the Juliet Prowse and Connie Stevens episodes, my picks would've been:

Snerf, yes! I should've said that. The fact that they appeared backstage showed that there were no obvious black controls that would show outside of their usual backdrop, so feasibly they could've.

I think that in Season One they just preferred to stick with the main cast and chorus rather than one-shot characters and the stranger creatures (i.e. Ragg Mopps, Java Muppets, Snerfs, etc).
