Least Favorite Sketch

I looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and looked, and apparently we don't have a thread like this (the closest is a "Least Favorite Kermit Moment"), but this isn't being limited to Kermit, this is for least favorite sketch from SST in general.

For me, one that stands out is a little boy (a little pink AM) looking for his lost letter V, and receiving lackluster help from a man (blue AM) he passes by. Finally, the boy finds his V (Vivie) in a fence that's composed of V-shaped elements by calling out to his V, who responds, living the man alone and confused and remarking "That's VERY strange..." as if that's the punchline to the sketch.

I made one a while back so I could get a list or something... I forget what I called it, something to the extent of Worst, lamest, and downright dull sketches...

Snowth would know this one... I dispise This skit and commented on it with this:

Yeah... I hate to speak ill of ANY Sesame Street skit, being the greatest show ever and all... but this is quite easily one of the lamest skits in the show's history. It's like a totally lobotomized version of Pinball Number Count. Bland, uninteresting... and all it does is crumble at the end. Not funny at all. Sorry to say that, but this is worse than what I remember.

Seriously... it's like Pinball Number Count only... not like how good it is.

Also... not so much This one, but there's one that's with a stop motion photos of children... I'm no fan of Karen Aqua's later stuff on Sesame Street (the earlier rhythm based ones she did were pretty good, and I liked them) I especially dislike "who wants to jump with the jumping J"

Then of course there's one I don't know the name of, but it has hyper kids running around a letter and terrible sounding keyboard music ... I call them "Da Letter ____" skits, because that's the extent of the lyrics... like Y... Y... Y... Da Letter Y... terrible.

Not so much a fan of Yoga segments either.

I noticed it was for non-Muppet sketches, though.

As a kid, I didn't really like The King of 8 (disliked how the puppets looked, and really hated the jester's voice), Herry and John-John count (was startled by Herry's loud counting), Monsterpiece Theater: The 39 Stairs (was a bit startled at the end when Grover started talking from off-camera), and Put Down the Duckie (I mainly was annoyed whenever my parents would sing it). But my opinion on all those segments have changed and improved considerably over the years (in fact until it was released two years ago I'd often put Herry and John-John count on just about any DVD wishlist where appropriate).

I'll have to think about whether there are any classic segments that are my least favorite. I think I mentioned in the least favorite Kermit segments thread that I don't care much for Doo Wop Hop or the 1976 version of Bein' Green. In fact I also don't care much for the sketch where Kermit counted monkeys.

Now that I think about it I don't care much for the season 8 segment where Ernie gives Bert a pretend check-up. Just not too interesting to me. Ditto with the segment were Grover gave Mr. Johnson a lesson on the food chain.

As far as Muppet skits go, and it's hard not to like a Muppet skit... I don't like that one that I've only seen in Spanish with the generic lecturer talking about squares until Cookie Monster eats them... And I'm no fan of the girl Muppet talking about the number 11 and turning upside down to see it's the same number.

I also have a problem with Ernie's Show and tell, but that's more of a segment. It's cute, but it's missing something. I think they needed more charismatic kids. I have fond memories of John John and any Muppet that was with him... a lot of the kids they talked to were kind of dull.

And I don't get the bit where the kid jumps up and down on stairs until his hair turns blue and the Count counts it until his hair is blue. I... just don't get it.

There's a sketch on SS.org about the "Home Hopping Network" and it has a generic rabbit and Benny. It was way long, boring and the joke of it wasn't that great (Hopping sounds like Shopping. HA). If songs count as sketches, I detest "It's Zydeco."

Yeah, that skit went on a little long... Benny was the highlight of that skit, but it couldn't save the thing...
