Large Bird Puppet Costume - new here.. hi ;)

Hi, I'm new here.. I came across this forum not to long ago, didn't know it had a puppetry section I love making puppets, costumes, props & sets.. In the early 70's my dad saw a article on how Henson made the muppets from foam.. figured he could make stuff out of foam, so I grew up around a lot of strange creatures and ended up making them myself.. I self taught myself. I just had to know how to make those Muppets, and what it took to build them.. and what else I could figure out..

I figured I'd join a forum to see how everyone else builds puppets.. maybe I can pick up on more or help out when I can..

I don't have many puppet pictures scanned yet, I've got more of our sculptures pics up.. been doing quite a bit Haunted House work lately... I do have some pics of a puppet costume I'm building now.. it's not done, but I've used it quite a few times.. and plan on using it for some costume contest this halloween.. just to take it out and try it more..

Welcome to the forum! This really is a great place to get to know other puppeteers and their techniques.

From the looks of your pictures I imagine you'll be getting a lot of questions in the near future. Your characters really look great!

Thanks for the welcome! This place looks really great, and from reading the forum a bit I can tell that everyone here is really helpful. Glad you liked the characters I posted so far! I'll post some more soon.. Right now I'm working on Halloween decorations.. built a life size Tim Burton's "Corpse Bride" with some grave stones to go along with it.. plus I have a owl puppet started too.

LOL yeah that was me!! Wow! Small world! Didn't expect to run into someone who has already seen it. He wasn't finished at the con.. still need to get his effects working.. Plus, there is going to be another puppet that sits up on the saddle.. Next time he should be more animated. I'm glad you thought it was awesome!
