WHy was Kingston abandoned? Here are my four theories.
#1: He was viewed as a racial stereotype by some, just like Roosevelt Franklin.
#2: He was ment to be cool, but came off a little Nerdy. A personal thing. He just reminded me of Carlton Banks on The Fresh Prince of Bel Aire!
#3: Kevin Clash was so busy with Elmo, he hadn't the time to perform him (a stretch, I know)
and #4, like most characters he was eased off the show slowly to focus on the core characters.
If anyone else has any ideas, please share them!

I'm not sure exactly why, but I sure think he was a poor substitute for the classic Roosevelt Franklin.

Oh, I thought the cool nerd thing was done on purpose. In any case I'd be more inclined to think that it was reason #4 and that Kingston, like the other "Around the Corner" Muppets, was phased out in order to focus on the core characters.
