Can I say thank you to everybody who talked to me all about King Minus.
I really enjoyed it and it sounds like a gem of a Sesame Street classic. Brilliantly humourus.

the tale of King Minus

Gary Owens (The announcer on Laugh-In, and also the voice of Space Ghost) narrated this little ditty, I can't remember the first few lines, but King Minus did have a magic touch that could make things POOF! disappear.

Just a touch of his finger brought about this reaction.
He could make things go away, it's like magic subtraction.

One day while out riding he stared up above at a fair maiden
In a castle, and his heart filled with love.

But also outside tempting his fate
Were four awful dragons, guarding the gate.

One tried to fry him, and chortled with glee,
But King Minus touched him, and then there were three (also the title of a Genesis album after Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett left, leaving Phil Collins, Tony Banks and Mike Rutherford to carry on, but I digress)
Four take away one leaves three.

Another fierce dragon leaps into view
But King Minus touched him, and then there were two.
Three take away one leaves two.

Another dragon jumped high as the sun,
But the king took him away, and then there was one
Two take away one leaves one.

The last dragon thought that to hide would be best
Because he had seen what happened to all of the rest
So into the forest he started to run
But King Minus found him... and then there were none.
One take away one leaves... none.

Then he rode in the castle and out on the roof
But when he touched the fair maiden, alas, she too went poof!

Then he touches his horse, and then himself, leaving only his protective glove behind. This story belongs in with the Canterbury Tales. Chaucer would've been proud.

That was excellent. Thank you fuzzygobo.

He did have a glove on one hand.
I believe that was a magic glove that allowed King Minus to touch things without making them disappear. For I saw another glove attached to his belt. I guess he forgot to put on that other glove when he tried to hug the princess.

I can easily picture when the first two have gone the others saying quietly to each other:"Go get him but watch your step." "Don't worry.I'll pounce very quickly before he can zap me."
Then after he's zapped no wonder the last one would try to flee LOL:big_grin:
In the light of the script provided by fuzzygobo can anyone else picture this thought I had as well? It is a rather funny thought isn't it?

Oh what a fabulous birthday present:excited:
Thank you very much MuppetDude.
I don't think it's possible to actually download it to my computer as I understand it. But at least I can load it up and watch it any time I want to when I'm at the forum.

I see he didn't make the castle disappear as somebody else had thought but it seems that the other glove was indeed a magic glove intended to protect someone or something King Minus didn't intend to zap. And the silly billy forgot to put it on when he embraced the poor maid then he zaps his own horse and finally himself.

Actually I don't know who I feel sorry for the most.
King Minus or his horse or the princess or the dragons. In particular the last one who tried to save himself by running off.
Perhaps he pleaded for his life whimpering and shaking in a secluded corner in the forest while King Minus slowly approached and touched him in cold blood:eek:
That is terrific MuppetDude. I really love it
