That was excellent! Did you build the Audrey II puppet Kev?
I went on a midnight run around Memphis and found couches on side of the street, took the cushions, and took them home and stripped the material off the foam.

Then, the top part of the pod was carved from 4" foam, as was the bottom part. The inside of the mouth was pinched out by hand until I carved a crevice in the upper mouth, and I carved around the tongue by pinching the foam out. The teeth are just ripped out of 1" foam. I painted it by taking a piece of 1" foam and watered-down acrylic paints and got the effect of air-brushing.

There are two stems and two different bases that fit into the top of the plant. One stem is for me to dress in black against a black background, and is the one you see in the film so it's not longer so puppety, the other stem is a puppet-sleeve for me to put my arm into, and the pot can be entered either through the back or the base.

I made a jacket with a fake arm in it to attach to the plant's pot.

I think that basically tells the story of how it's made. Oh, glue and corrogated board and fake foliage.

Also, I forgot to mention that Muley played hole 13A at the Celebrity Putt Putt today, and got lots of good attention from the local celebrities, and most of them already know him, so they stood around and played with him. I made sure that Muley knew that the hole the guests were playing was played by HIS rules: Cheating. Nobody went through 13A without making a hole-in-one! He also played by using the golf ball and club like he's playing pool! It was funny. Lots of photos were taken, so as soon as I'm able, I plan on updating www.picturetrail.com/muleythemule and I'll put notice here when I do.

Excellent, thanks for the info Kevin, very neat to know how you built Audrey II and you got an amazing professional look with very simple materials. I certainly am looking forward to the updates.

It was a blast!

I do need to point something out, though: When you have a performance which starts sometime after 10 pm, and you have to go through prequalifications of the 'skit' or 'costume' before a contest, make sure you eat a BIG LUNCH! I had to go in for cold pizza in one of the con-suites that a friend had, then put on the black hood, and then do the show. No time to brush my teeth. Pepperoni pizza is good hot or cold, but the after taste and breath does not taste/smell so good. Blah. Take mints, too.

Travis is a super nice guy to say that I'm a nice person. Maybe he got me and Muley mixed up?
