Did Steve Whitmire perform Kermit at Friday's event for D23 Expo because it almost sounds like him?

No, he didn't. Artie Espositio confirmed that he preformed Kermit and Staler for the D23 Expo on Muppet Wiki. Although, he might have lip-synced to Steve's voice. I don't know.

If Steve wasn't available to perform Kermit's voice, they could have used Jim's recording of Rainbow Connection.
