Question about the collar: how many points does it have, actually? 9 or 11?

Since muppet frogs seem to be clothing-optional--maybe this was a way to help express Kermit's individuality. Better than a neck-tie, eh? (Personally, I've always found Gonzo to be a very snappy dresser....)

A certain member on here always starts fights over nothing. He's basically ruined Muppet Central.

Didn't he have a double collar at one point? I seem to remember that very early on, pre-TMS, maybe the Frog Prince?

That would support the "covering up seams" theory; maybe Jim Henson (or someone on his staff) couldn't sew Kermit's head and neck together properly. (Somehow, I imagine a box in CTW's old studios with the label "Mangled Muppets"...:zany: )

Didn't the original Kermit from Sam & Friends have no collar? It wasn't specified that he was a frog at all, so at some point in time, either a discussion or simple thought had to come up: "Let's give him a collar!" I would love to know how that came up...
