Then you're saying Sharon Osbourne is lying? And why, pray, would she do that?Originally posted by Luke
I completely back Warrick up on this - at no point did Steve put Kermit anywhere near Ozzy aside from in the press cordon later where Ozzy willingly posed with Kermit for a set piece organsied photo with the press. You have to remember two things :-
1) Sharon was nowhere near the stage as the VIP area was right at the back. She would be dependant on whatever Ozzy tells her and he isn't even coherent 99.5% of the time, plus they needed a story for a TV show.
2) Ozzy has a 'stage persona' and is expected to have some kind of controversy around him and what you even see in his documentary is very exagerated. In real life he's a fairly normal English guy and would know, especially around the Queen and a lot of other people he would respect in the buisness not to act up.
She may well be. She's making a TV show where Ozzy is supposed to be portrayed as a wild old rocker but this was a case where he had to be good but then again they need matierial for the show. We do make things up in TV land y'know - sorry to burst the bubble.Originally posted by murgatoad

Maybe, but he seemed ok posing with Kermit in the press area and thats one of the main images that was distributed around the world and got him a lot of press exposure. Sometimes these guys complain about doing something to sound 'cool' but really are very happy doing it as long as they get in the papers. I'm guessing Sharon just needed a story for the cameras so exagerated something Ozzy said at the time.Originally posted by murgatoad
If it *didn't* happen as she said, maybe Ozzy suppressed his annoyance at Kermit at the time but expressed it in his own inimitable way later to his wife.
The Henson Company would know exactly what type of show it was when they accepted the booking and are probably of the opinion that if Kermit does late night then Steve can use a minor degree of artistic license in catering for that kind of audience. Personally i don't see much harm in it - the Muppets audience has grown up and the retro crowd are mostly twenty somethings who are going to watch this type of show and laugh at this kind of questioning and Kermits responses. You aren't going to reach out to them by doing Oprah or Rosie O' Donnel. It makes sense to promote a project to both this audience and the family one and i don't see any problem as long as Kermit doesn't talk about adult things when the kids are watching. ALF went on the Cindy Margolis show and judged a bikini contest and it was a successful promotional appearance - the puppeteers just work their act to the audience they are performing too. Actors do it all the time and if the Muppets want the retro/student crowd as well as the kids and grannies then they have to promote to them too !Originally posted by murgatoad
Whatever. Her story, PLUS the treatment Kermit/Whitmire received from the gang at the Fox show, make it pretty clear that Kermit isn't the adored icon some of you here seem to think. His behavior on Kilborn didn't help much in that regard either IMO. But then the Henson people of late have often proved to be their own worst enemies...*shrug*
You do a lot of rationalizing too, it seems.Originally posted by Luke
