I know this sketch featured Kermit and two balls, but:

1) What happens in this sketch?

2) What two balls are in it?

3) Where did it take place at?

4) How is it?

5) If there's ending music in it, how did it go?

5 questions please!

?

I'd like to know how this went also.

Being 1969, I'm sure there was just music at the end of the skit. Most of the Kermit 'lectures' ended that way.

On a brick wall against a black background, Kermit tries to demonstrate what round is, with the help of a wisecracking ball (FO) whose favorite song is "Tiptoe Through the Tulips." He introduces Kermit to his "daddy," a scary-looking basketball (JH). There's no ending music.

Oh!

I DO recall this now! I didn't know it was '69, thought maybe it was a bit later. I remember the 'daddy' For awhile, I was scared to play with Basketballs! LOL!

wisecracking ball

Frank Oz as the wisecracking ball was hysterical. He also mentions he has a cousin that got sat on and squashed out of shape, so now he's a football for the Green Bay Packers.

There was at least one other skit featuring Ernie and four little pink balls who can't tell each other apart, until Ernie puts various hats and wigs on them, then we have a Mommy Daddy and Junior Ball, and a Mailman.

And then Jim puts the fuzzy streamers on them, and we have the Zizzy Zoomers who sing the "Z" song. Groovy!!!

I remember that basketball made another appearance in another skit. Ernie, wearing a red baseball cap, was with 3 pink ball people. He was their baseball coach and he wanted to give them caps before the game starts. He had 3 small caps and one huge yellow cap. He kept trying the huge cap on each of the 3 small balls, but it always completely covered each one up. One of them went. "How does a tent feel?" So Ernie ended up giving the balls the small caps and then they went off to get ready. Ernie was wondering where that huge cap came from and in bounced the tough sounding basketball demanding his cap back. The basketball said, "I'm Big Bill. Captain of the team you shrimps are playing against. PLAY BALL! LET'S GO!" and he bounced off. Then a nervous Ernie started saying stuff like. "It looks like rain. Guys, maybe we can call this game off till next Tuesday."

Awesome thread, guys! I tried posting a thread about the pink balls a couple days ago, but kept getting board errors. So I logged on tonight to post a thread about the pink balls and I found this thread!

I also love the pics on the web site with the classic Ernie pics! They sure bring back some memories! Thanks!
