I just got it. I've been so dingy, but I THINK that Johnny and Sal are kind of taking after Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. Listen to their voices respectively, and you got it: Low, quiet singer voice, nasally loud boistrous voice.

Johnny and Sal did make guest appearances on Jerry Lewis's Labor Day Telethon. So Jerry must've had a soft spot for those guys.
