XERUS’S VOICE ARTIST FOCUS:

Today’s V/A focus is the late Jim Thurman who passed away in 2007. Jim was a producer, writer, and voice artist who did voices for lots of famous cartoon shorts, including cartoons from Sesame Street and the Electric Company. I’ll always remember Jim’s familiar voices from all the cartoons I enjoyed as a kid.

THE ELECTRIC COMPANY: Several voices
IT’S SO NICE TO HAVE A WOLF AROUND THE HOUSE: All the voices
THE JEAN MARSH CARTOON SPECIAL: Several voices
LOUIS JAMES HATES SCHOOL: Speaking voices
P.D. EASTMAN, ARE YOU MY MOTHER?(VIDEO): Certain voices
RAINBOWLAND: All the Male Voices
ROGER RAMJET: Additional voices
SESAME STREET: Christopher Clumsy, Teeny Little Super Guy, Additional voices
SESAME STREET OLD SCHOOL DVD, VOL. 1: Cartoon Bob
SHRIMPENSTEIN: All the voices
SNOWY AND THE SEVEN DORPS: Several voices
SQUARE ONE TV: Mr. Glitch, Vern, Additional voices
3-2-1 CONTACT: Several voices
TURKEY TELEVISION: Thurman T. Turkey, Pilgrim

Not only did Jim do voices for Roger Ramjet, he also wrote a lot for it.

To this day, I wonder if he was able to get Pantomime Pictures (the animation studio that animated RR) to do SS animations. Especially since a lot of it looks like that style.

If should put Teeny Little Super Guy, and Mr. Glitch side by side, they sound almost completely identical. I can't believe I never put two and two together all these years!

I believe Dirk Nibblick from Square One TV is from Pantomine Pictures. They even used some of the same voice artists from Roger Ramjet for Dirk Nibblick and both cartoon series have the same fast paced funny writing in them.

Yes, Jim does have a recognizable voice. And in the Teeny Little Superguy cartoons, Jim does all the voices. Except for the singing girls in the theme song.
