Amidst all of these rant threads we have going lately, I have a new thread for ranting... javascript.

Why in the world do we even NEED javascript, when it doesn't even do anything anyway? So many websites these days seem to rely on javascript for design and navigation, as opposed to traditional HTML or the more complicated Flash-based templates, but they accomplish nothing; eBay is the worst for this, because now to enlarge product photos requires javascript, and even though you have it, most of the time the photos don't even enlarge.

Then there's the countless times you've view a site like YouTube, deviantART, etc, then all of the sudden you're taken to "This page cannot be displayed" even though you didn't click or do anything, and the address bar reads "javascript:void".

I know a friend of mine says he sees no point in having or using javascript either... if it's so pointless, why do we even need it to begin with?

I know how you feel. I need it to play some games, and even though I have it installed, the games still won't play. Its stupid, I know. I wish everything would just run on Flash, it'd be so much easier, I'd think.

I know what you mean... I hate the word "rubbish", but Javascript IS rubbish, so that's all the more reason to hate it, lol!
