I never had much interest with Marvel Comic Superheros though I did see a couple of SM carttons, including the 1st SM cartoon and I'm telling you I'm disgusted with this new version of him.

I know this is for little kids but com on! I'm sure there are many longtime Spidey fans who are outraged at this.

Considering the fugly costume he's wearing and the fact that he revealed his secret idenity to the public I think the fans have far bigger things to be angry about.

I will admit when I saw a comercial for this I was thinking "***?"

Hmm...I dont see what the big deal is. They made him more kid friendly. I mean, if this is just for little kids and theres still the origional spidey, I dont see the big deal, but unless this is his "new" look permantenly, then what on earth did they do to him!?!?

Well Spider-man's creator, Stan Lee, signed off on this product and okayed its production. And I don't think he would have done that if he didn't like it or thought it was bad for the franchise.

Spiderman has done a lot of kid-friendly things (including having a recurring series of sketches on "The Electric Company" taking reading skills). I don't think the fans are outraged (just like Star Wars fans were not offended by the off-the-wall Darth Tater toy). It's funny, it's cute, it's fun, it's harmless, and it's okay by me.

I don't think this will kill the Spider-man franchise or harm the integrity of the character. Offended fans should lighten up and enjoy (or just ignore) this cute little toy. I don't think Marvel and Stan Lee would mistreat their creation - it is there property to do whatever they want with.

Oh my goodness. That's ridiculous. At least it's not Wolverine because we all know he's not really kid-friendly.

I'm gonna have to agree with Brad Fraggle here. After all, the toy wouldn't be made in the first place if Spidey's creator actually disapproves of it. And since SM's already rather popular with the kids, and already has merchandise aiming towards that particular age target, why not introduce him to the four-year-olds who would grow up to know him, anyway?

Plus, I found it kinda cute and funny!

Some of you know by now that I'm an avid comic book fan (especially of Spider-Man's), and as a true fan of Spidey's, I seriously don't find anything wrong with this toy. In fact, I think this is a terrific way of helping smaller children get into Spider-Man, before they enter the next stage (which is seeing Spidey in cartoons or early prints of his comics that were more kid-friendly) and then the stage after that (seeing Spider-Man in PG-13 movies and reading about the much darker, more realistic side of the wall-crawler in the comics nowadays).

I know some fans who are just enjoying this product (probably going as far as to buy it themselves for their personal collection or for their own kids), and if there are some that are having a cow about this, then they need to consider how the next generation will get involved with not only Spidey, but Superman, X-Men, and some other superheroes out there in the comic book world. They need to consider what's best for the kiddies and not themselves (who really cares about the appearance of a toy that's for preschoolers anyway).

And I noticed someone mentioned about Wolverine. Well, some products have also included Wolverine into this as well, because they want to show a more kid-friendly side of savage characters like Wolverine and the Hulk. Some of these products have gone as far as to make Wolverine's claws look pudgy and more plastic, as if there were marshmallows coming out of his hands.

And as far as Spidey revealing his identity to the public, that just gives us readers more of a reason to kept ourselves glued to the Spider-Man continuity. I don't see any reason for fans to be angry about that. I am, personally, angry that J. Jonah Jameson is still blind to the fact that Spidey is here to help people and had to fire his #1 reporter, just because he IS the guy he despises the most. But that's Jonah for ya.

Anyway, I love this toy. Hope it helps kiddies know how MARVELOUS Spidey is.
