It's those little things

Hey guys, this is a thread to appreciate those "little things" that Palisades has done with the figures. Those little cool things that just make you say "wow, that's so cool!" and that Palisades didn't HAVE to do but did anyway Here are some of the things I like:

-The "Muppety" texture is a great thing, really makes them feel more puppet-like
-The inclusion of photos of the actual Muppets lately (like on Johnny's albums)
-The way the paint is always consistent (like the Newsman's jacket, or Johnny's pinstripes)
-The way Samuel Arrow's book opens and how the map is real paper
-The paper Constitution that came with Sam the Eagle

those are all just a few of the examples of how great I think Palisades is doing. Keep up the good work guys!

First I have to say, thanks for putting this thread up. I am going to sound dumb, but I never looked at Sam Arrow's book. Didn't know it opened just looked at it very cool.

My favorate little things is all the books, like with the muppet labs, super scooter, shifty eye Sam, and Regular Sam. I love all the writings in them specifically when it looks like it came right of the show itself.

I also like how Robin's book fits perfect in his backpack.

Hey, I know what you mean. At first I didn't know Samuel Arrow's book opened when I first got it either. But then I read on the packaging that he came with a map and I was wondering where it was. Then I noticed that the book had what looked like an opening and I opened it up! lol, it was pretty cool

Another thing I like is how the Newsman's glasses have little lenses in them, and how Pepe's chair really folds and has cloth on it.

Having figure pack-ins is great too, like Camilla w/ Gonzo and Polly Lobster/ with Capt. Smollet!

Another thing that I think is great is how there isn't a silly "Action feature" w/ springs or lights or anything like that. They're just good 'ol fashion action figures. For example, some of the Lord of the Rings figures have things like arrow shooting action or sword swinging action. Personally, I think some of those figures would be a lot cooler w/o the action feature. That's what I like about the Muppets!

More than just the things mentioned above, I think their dedication to their fans, and the patience they have with us asking questions all the time, and their hands-on approach with their fans and giving us what WE want, not what they think we want, is a HUGE plus!! Ken, Travis, Tony, Mike, and everybody there are awesome folks!!

I could go on and on...

OK, so this line amazes me more with the accessories than the actual figures. The figures are better than anything else in my collection (to which Adventure Kermit just became a part), but the accessories really stand out. Here's just a few of the ones that I thought really got my attention...

---Bo's mop bucket has wheels that work and rotate in different directions, as well as having a working mop-wringer. How cool is that!!!

---Robin's backpack that fits several different accessories. I have modified a scale version of Mein Kampf for this particular purpose... Just a little thing that makes the little things that much better... And twisted...

---Magnet hats. I can't believe how much I take this for granted, but the magnet hats are the single greatest thing ever to hit toy lines. Even if some of the hats are a bit too heavy for the magnets, I don't care. It's still incredibly innovative.

---The entire Swedish Kitchen. Nuff said.

Oooo! Good point about the magnetic hats! I thought that was THEE coolest thing when I got Samuel Arrow!

In the case of "three-paints" I think having variations (other than color) of the accessories was a really good idea. When I had first gotten Johnny it was the purple-ish one. I had gotten it 'cause I wanted to have one version of Johnny. But since I really wanted the pinstripe Johnny I got that one as well. The I thought "Well, it would be really cool to have all three albums and pictures" and got the silver repaint. I'm looking forward to Lips!

Sam Arrow was the secong figure I got,and my parents gave hm to me on Christmas eve, cuz my brother opened up one of his presents without permission! Anyway, after playing with him for about and hour, I read on the package "map". And then I thought "oh crap" I lost my first accessory ever! I searched all night on Christmas eve looking for that **** map. and then, about a month and a half later, I saw that Sam's book cover looked loose. I thought "Oh no, the glue is going... I squeezed it and squeezed it but it wouldn't stay closed. My brother came upstairs about 20 minutes to see me squeezing this little book. And he asked me what I was doing. I said, "The glue is wearing off, and I think I'll need to glue this book shut again. He just nodded, and sat down. And then, casually, he asked me what the figure came with (for accessories). I told him about the hat, key, telescope, tail, book, and a "treasure map" that I lost. I was squeezing the book while I was saying this, so my brother smiled, and asked if he could see my book. I didn't answer, but he took it from me anyway. He pulled the lid, and I freaked. My jaw dropped. My eyes wided. I was scared... and then after a few seconds of agony with my head in my hands, my brother said, "here," and handed me the map. I was confused. "Where did you get that?" I asked him. He motioned to the book. I lifted up the flap, and relized there was a secret compartment inside! I was so amazed at what Palisades did that I almost cried. Well, there you have it, a long story that I'm sure nobody will care about, with bad grammer because it's 3:00 and im tired...

I think that's a cute story. It goes to show, you should hang out more at the forum to avoid heart attacks like that!

It took me several months before I realized that Crazy Harry's gunpowder barrel opened. And then I thought, wow! This makes it even cooler.

Some other things that Palisades has done that I just love are the addition of pack-ins, particularly Camilla and the veggies. I also love the texturing, of the puppet's skin, their clothing, and their hair. I love the way that they slightly stylized the uniforms of the Pigs in Space crew to add color, yet kept the SwineTrek show accurate. I really like Gonzo's box of chocolates and the Electric Mayhem's realistic instruments.

My list could go on forever. Basically, Palisades is the greatest company and they pay so much attention to the detail of the figures and to the interests of the fans. Maybe I am biased because I love the Muppets so much, but to me they seem to be the highest quality figures and accessories that I have ever seen.
