Dude,

Middle School is a short time and I know it sucks. Ride it out man. Dont change. High school is a new ball game. Find a group you identify with for me it was the theatre freaks (sounds like it might be for you too) get involved with that group and you will find that yeah you might not fit in as the normal high school student but you will fit in quiet nicely with your group and odds are you will do fine. I was there, i found my group in high school and high school ended up being the best four years of my life.

I've been through all that too at school. I've had problems even since I left school but im getting better and more confident now. I still get depressed due to the fact that I have no girlfriend or noone basically, or atleast it feels like that at times.

The people who give you hard times at school are the losers! They are jealous of you because you have the courage and the brains to be a bit different to everyone else. You don't need to wear the same clothes as everyone else, what would be the point if everyone was exactly the same.

I'm not gay either but I was always called that at school and some people think I am now, probably because I dont have a girlfriend yet. I'm definately not gay. I used to say to them at school I'm not gay but if I was what the heck would it have to do with you! Am I missing something?

You will be fine! You are better than those other kids!

Thank you guys soo much. this means soo much to me. I was at are cummunity theater, and i was talking to thw guy who played Orin in Little Shop of Horrors we did last month, and He gave me too great pices of advise:

1.They say the meek shall inherit
You know the book doesn't lie
It's not a question of merit
It's not demand and supply
They say the meek gonna get it
And you a meek little guy
You know the meek are gonna get
What's comin' to 'em by and by
-Little Shop of Horrors

and 2. One day you're slinging hash
Feeling so rejected
Lightning flash, you get resurrected
Make a splash- now you rate the big
Bravissimo
And with a thundercrash-
Crash kerplunk, bam kerboom
Zang kazunk, zam kazoom
Zowee powee holy cow he
Ordered up a rainbow to go
Wow! Pow! Lookout below!
Don't it go to show ya never know?

Jonathan--

I am very sorry you are having to deal with this. That most of us experience this sort of stuff at some point in school is not much comfort, but maybe it helps a little to know you are not alone. I hope you can find someone in your life you can talk to about this, someone who can help you get through it. A parent, maybe a teacher you like, the folks at the community theater-- someone. No one should be able to get away with slapping you and you can report that sort of behavior. It's not tattling when it involves the safety of students in school. Hang in there-- it really will get better. Middle school is the worst, but things will get better!

Everyone--

I appreciate that many people have been through this sort of thing and want to offer support to Jonathan. That's great. But please keep in mind the kids who are being cruel to Jonathan are just that-- kids. I am NOT excusing their behavior but we have all seen way too much school violence. Please remember you are dealing with kids you do not know and tred lightly. Offer support, offer suggestions, but watch what you say and how you say it.

Thank you,
Annika
