Iv'e always wondered about this. It seems like he's only there once in a great while, and a lot of times it's when Dr. Teeth isn't there. Is there anyone who could clear this up for me???

Not officially, no. It's like saying Billy Preston was in the Beatles just because he played organ on the Let it Be album.

An explanation for the lack of Dr. Teeth when he's there is because, well, they're both Jim characters.

Basically when it's just a band playing, Rowlf may get thrown in. When it is The Electric Mayhem singing, Rowlf usually is not there.

Rowlf was in the orchestra pit wasnt he? But that wasnt the electric mayhem although most electric mayhem members were there. Is that called the muppet orchestra?

Rowlf was his own performer, and played in the Muppet Theater Orchestra. He would sit in from time to time with the Electric Mayhem, but not often. He is not a member of the EM band and earned his own rite as a performer as far back as the Jimmy Dean Show and The Tonight Show. The EM Band were part of the orchestra, also; but, were their own band.

Nope. Check out the Kaye Ballard episode of "The Muppet Show". When the Electric Mayhem band leaves at the end of the show, Rowlf is the only one left (besides Nigel the conductor) in the orchestra pit. Rowlf plays the closing theme by himself!
