Is it time for a good Muppets video game?

I keep forgetting about Muppets Inside being a video game, mainly because it was a CD-ROM. I rarely consider computer games "video games" if they weren't also released on a console.
Really? That is quite an...uh interesting belief:smile:

*has fond memories of MANY 80's and early 90's PC video games that never saw the light of day on a console...as well as countless arcade games that never got ported*

I had a similar idea, where you're the Muppets' new gofer (Scooter's been promoted) and you have to go around doing different missions (i.e. going on scavenger hunts to find props for performers, helping Bunsen & Beaker stop rampaging Muppet Labs inventions) to make the show run smoothly. Some of the missions could be taken straight from episodes of the original show, i.e. rounding up a bunch of rampaging rabbits who drank Bunsen's Jekyll & Hyde potion (Alan Arkin), or finding the spell book pages needed to turn Piggy back from stone (Tony Randall). These wouldn't be mini-games per say, as you'd have to explore the theater to accomplish most missions, whereas mini-games in past Muppet VGs were often limited to one area. There could even be a mission where Bunsen sends you back in time to the days of Muppet Babies, or a mission where you find yourself wandering into Fraggle Rock through a hole in the studio wall.
Shoot, I'd preorder that right now. Again, the fact there hasn't been ANY Muppets ds games yet is really ridiculous since pretty much every franchise no matter how obscure or old has been made into a ds game.

I'm glad you liked my idea. Maybe if the Henson Company or Disney or whoever gets word of it, they'll make it and give me a fat check, and I can spend all the money on plastic surgery to make me actually look like a Muppet:crazy:.

I wish James Rolfe, the Angry Video Game Nerd, would do a video reviewing all the Muppets games from over the years; he often does themed reviews, i.e. Superman games, Back to the Future, etc. I wonder if he takes requests?

I do sorta feel now is as good a time as any to release a GOOD Muppets VG, what with the movie that just came out. Hopefully it'd be made with both kids and adult fans in mind; I wouldn't want to play an educational game or anything like that:sleep:.

I've always been kind of into the idea of either a Sims-like game, where you run the Muppet Theater, or a point-and-click type game (think Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, Sam and Max, et cetera). I dunno. This is why I'm not a game designer :embarrassed:
Oh, yeah! I can see a Sam and Max type game very clearly. Something where you need to search for props and get the other Muppets involved... some of which would only help you if you give them something in return. Something with a well done script and different funny reactions when different items are given.

Dude, Id take one of those Sanrio town ds games, where you play as Chococat, Hello Kitty or Badtz Maru walking around a colorful little town doing tasks.

Most Muppet games tend to be bad vignette side scrollers or strangely themed vignettes.

Interestingly, I've thought of quite a few ideas for Muppet games where the ideas were basically taken from existing games, but there was an idea I was thinking of recently which was similar to an existing game, but had no idea of the plot until yesterday when I got the game for Christmas. The game was Mario and Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. While it's been out for over a year and I've known of it since it's release, I had no idea of the plot (I thought it had to do with Bowser's backstory).

But my idea was to have Kermit or someone eaten by one of the Muppet monsters (my choices would be Carl, Sweetums, or Behemoth) and have to find his way out from the inside. But as I can see Mario and Luigi have already had to fidn their way out of Bowser.

That could be cool, and certainly doable. Perhaps such a game could go more in depth as to how Kermit got the old gang back together; there could be a part where Walter, Fozzie, and Kermit must escape from the Moopets at Poochala Casinos, enraged that Fozzie is trying to leave.

Whoever's in charge of making Muppet VG's hasn't done a great job so far, no offense, so I think they should put us in charge, as we seem to have much better ideas. I mean, it's unbelievable how badly they've dropped the ball thus far, and with some things (e.g. many of the current post-Flashpoint DC comics, for any comic book fans on the board, the Star Wars prequels), I think you could make a solid argument that the fans truly could have done a better job than the people in charge. So I say c'mon, just for once, let the fans have an actual say in the things they love so much.

Anyway, to put another idea out their, I'd be all for a Pigs in Space game. It wouldn't be just a skit like on TMS, it would actually be Link, Piggy, and Strangepork in their own adventure. Part of it would involve navigating the Swinetrek through space and fighting hostile ships, part of it would involve hostile entities and problems aboard the Swinetrek itself, like the majority of Pigs in Space skits, and part of it would involve Link, Piggy, and Strangepork exploring the planet Koozebane. It could definitely be multiplayer, with players taking on the role of Link, Piggy, or Strangepork, and it could definitely have appearances from other Muppets. For example, there could be a mission where players have to safely escort roving reporter Kermit the Frog through the dangers of Koozebane and back to the Swinetrek, and another mission where players must fight Dearth Nadir, Gonzo's Darth Vader parody from episodes 402 and 417 of TMS.
