Is It "Ok" or "Okay?"

I have always wondered about one thing:

The actual word is "okay," with the "O" and the "K" right beside each other. When we abbreviate it, though, we put a period (.) between the "O" and the "K" instead of just at the end of the "K." It has always seemed to me that since the two letters are next to each other in the word, instead of "O.K.," the word "okay" should be abbreviated "Ok.," except then you have the abbreviation for the state "Oklahoma."

I'm just going to stick with "a'ight den."

I used to put "okay" all the time, but for a while now, I've been saying "ok" instead.

I guess Kevin's right, though... and hey, maybe I've always liked talking about Oklahoma!

I like to say Oklahoma like this:

OOOOooooooooklahomaaa.

Gives it a bit of--I dunno, flair?
