Okay, I don't ever have any memory of hearing this song, but I am wondering if "In the Quiet of the Evening" is a Sesame Street parody of "In the Middle of the Night". Both titles are similar, with "Middle" replaced with "Quiet" and "Night" replaced with "Evening" (and evening and night are both tiems of a day).

Does anybody know?

I have heard "In the Middle of the Night" (great song, by the way) and if "In the Quiet of the Evening" is a parody of it- it's a kinda loose one, like a lot of Sesame Street's parodies are. But perhaps it was inspired by the song anyway- lyrically. Musically, I don't think the two are very similar necessarily. Perhaps The Tokens' "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" added to the imagery for inspiration.
