Imagination

Although I love the original insert the way it is, and it does have a nice message to it (I must confess though, I'm with Ernie, when you try to imagine something, it is hard, as opposed to just letting your mind wander), sometimes I can't help but wonder if they kept the whole thing in about Ernie's nightmare with monsters and such would make the end bit with Bert telling Ernie to imagine balloons and the song itself as effective or maybe moreso than leaving it out? Just a thought.

I think it helps to let kids know, it can be easy to imagine monsters and scary things that can induce nightmares (some early clips with Beautiful Day did just that to me). But it's just as easy to imagine peaceful things and nighttime doesn't have to be a scary place.

But it does take a little effort to keep the monsters away sometimes.
