I realized our poor Muppets had a problem...

Recently after watching a Play With Me Sesame dvd for the umpeenth time, I realized the Muppets seem to have a fainting problem. Especially Bert! It wasn't uncommon for him to finish a sketch by fainting from Ernie's antics. Poor guys!

I don't remember Cookie Monster ever fainting, though. Obviously he never had low blood sugar problems with all those cookies.

I have no idea what the point of this thread is other than I never really thought about it/questioned it as a child.

I guess I was just saying that compared to the real world, they do an awful lot of fainting. I know it's just comedy. But it never struck me as odd until recently. I never even thought to wonder why it was funny. It just was.

See, I may have to try this when I'm getting frustrated by my 5 year old's antics. I'll just faint and see how he reacts. LOL!(Goodness knows it probably wouldn't be hard to faint from some of the stuff he does/says!)

Frank Oz's characters usually tend to faint. Especially Grover and Bert. Another masterwork of improvisation by Frank that got absorbed by the character. Kinda like Miss Piggy's Karate chop, or Cookie Monster's "COWABUNGA!"

I seem to recall an E&B clip where both Ernie and Bert faint at the end. Does anyone remember this?

That was when Bert's accuses Ernie taking his Cookies and CM takes the others looking like Ernie.

I feel like I remember Bert fainting alot as a kid, but now I can only think of two specific skits where he faints (the one where Ernie has Bert pretend to be angry, and where Bert accuses Ernie of eating his cookies). What other skits did Bert faint int?
