Hello! First off, i would like to share my idea with you. For Halloween i like to make a project out of my costumes. This year, i chose to do Bruno and Oscar. Making Oscar is going to be my challenge. Seeing how i never made a puppet in my life, i'm lost and need help. I've had experience with sewing, and i took some classes in school (home Ec, fasion design). Sewing isn't a problem.

How would i make the base of Oscar's head?
He seems like he has something to make his head oval shaped. If i were to just use fabric, i think the head would cave in or show my knuckles. Do i stuff?

What would the best (afordable), fur i should use?

Should i use cardboard for the mouth?

As for the Bruno part of the costume, i think i have everything undercontrol. I'm goig to shop for a use blue jean jacket and print Trach ont he back, add patches to the elbow, buy a hat, add straps to the can, yada yada.

Halloween may be a long time away from now, but as you see, i have alot to do and i want to make sure i have it all done in time lol

Just thanking everyone whose takin their time to give me tips  I'm looking around for materials, and prices. I pretty much have good (not perfect) idea about Bruno, so i'm not worried about him. I'll probably go the paper machay route, then do fabric over that. Debating where i want to make nylon to see. Either under his Brows (it'll be hidden since the brows are black) or his mouth. His mouth maybe too low, but i have time.

Maybe my basic look designs are a little silly, and not what you would expect, but i have them ont he computer, if someone can teach me how i can get the picture on here, i'll be happy to show what my ideas have come up with. Its saved on my computer as a bitmap image, seeing how i use Paint to make it out my ideas

Cookie!

Hi, I know what it is to be desparate to make something and be stuck on how!
Best make the mouth out of wooden half circles, cut a thick fabric circle 1/2 inch bigger than those all round and mark centre line (allow little gap here too to accomodate fold) Then sew inch wide elastic to make hand grips one inch away from centre line on both sides. Glue with bostic or similar in folded closed position. You have a mouth that can be glued inside your puppet head, let me know if you need further help on this, Best wishes Whatadoddle
