Because they have so many other shows they want to produce, such as Dragon Tales, Sagwa, Cyberchase, Arthur, Maya & Miguel, Postcards from Buster, etc. etc.
Those shows are at least admirable, and quality educational programs. It's the crap like Telitubbies, Barney, Boohbah, and Jay Jay the Airplane they can clearly do without!

Save money to produce new series? But they've discontinued the production of episodes of Dragon Tales and Sagwa!
Well, I read on TVtome.com that Dragon Tales is getting new episodes.

Will Season 37 have a larger number of shows, or will we have to wait all the way until Season 40 to see Sesame Street with a larger number of shows?

Season 37 will still have only 26 shows, I'm afraid. :smirk:
