This may be pushing the definition of "puppetry" a bit, but I do think this could be considered a puppet of sorts. It's a trick I used to do in school.

(Note: Some of this involves sharp stuff, so it should only be done by an adult old enough to know what they're doing).

First, you take a sharpened pencil point and you'll see something that resembles Bert's head with the "lead" as his hair(albeit a bit more slicked down than usual).

Then you take a pen (or another pencil if you think you might make a mistake) and carefully draw Bert's eyes, eyebrows, nose, mouth and ears in the appropriate places. Then you can go further and color him with a crayon, marker or even paint. And if you really wanted to get creative, you could carve out some of the paint below the point to make a vest and paint or color it white. Maybe even color on down the pencil to look like his shirt.

Now, since Bert is usually seen in the company of Ernie, you can also make an Ernie Eraser. Since most pencil erasers are a color similar to Ernie's skin, you can draw Ernie's facial features on there with a pen or pencil and color accordingly with whatever will show up on an eraser.

Then you are ready to put on your very own Ernie and Bert Pencil Puppet show. (Just don't use the same pencil for Bert and Ernie or the performance may be a bit awkward. LOL)

Well, if you draw the nose with another pencil, you could always erase it.

You first have to have a Bust of Bert Pencil Puppet without a nose for Bert's Pencil Puppet Nose to be removed and put onto the Bust of Bert Pencil Puppet.:frown:
