How to Dye Antron Fleece Tutorial

HELP! I'm trying to dye my antron fleece a light grey colour (to look like stone). I've used Black and Kelly Green Rit Dye and achieved a beautiful stormy blue colour. Then I tried Black by itself (as the Rit colour chart suggests) and achieved a light purple. Today I thought I'd experiment with a box of Brown Tintex over the light purple and am now getting a darker reddish purple. Has anyone managed to get a nice grey colour? How did you do it? Any suggestions? Frustrated. Thanks in advance.
