I can't figure this out in short order and I was hoping there might be a few people here who could help me.
I was reading Roscoe Orman's Wikipedia page today and the "filmography" section said he's appeared in 254 episodes of Sesame Street. I have to imagine that in 40+ seasons (starting from the beginning of his tenure in 1974 and not counting his hiatus from the show from 2016-23), there's no way the number's that low, right? Unless they haven't produced nearly the amount of episodes they claim to have produced and there are hundreds if not thousands more repeats than I thought.
Sesame Street was producing 130 episodes per season for almost 30 years (29 seasons to be exact, before the number was reduced for season 30.) Even if half of those were repeats, that would still mean that they produced roughly 1,560 unique episodes over the course of his first 24 seasons. I haven't checked the math but I have a hard time believing they've done that many repeats (or that Orman has done so few episodes compared to the number that have been produced during his time on the show.)
I know Gordon wasn't in every single episode, but what I'm getting at is that 254 seems remarkably low. I removed the "254 episodes" number from Oman's Wikipedia page because it was unsourced and I couldn't verify it offhand.
Can anyone please provide insight? Thanks all.
